2020 SPRING SEMESTER ADMISSION APPLICATION GUIDE for Master’s Degree Program

Eligibility Requirements

  • □ (Nationality Eligibility) An applicant with non-Korean nationality and both parents also having non-Korean nationality.
  • □ (Academic Eligibility)
      ① Bachelor's degree holders, including those expected to earn it by February, 2020
      ② Foreigners who received entire elementary, junior high, high school, and undergraduate education
          outside of Korea at the equivalent level of those provided in Korea
      ③ A Korean applicant holding dual nationalities cannot apply for this selection.
  • □ Language Proficiency Requirement
      - An applicant holding TOPIK level 3 or above
      ☞ After entering the school, it is necessary to get TOPIK level 3 or above within a semester.
          Anyone who does not meet the requirement may be subject to penalty.
  •   ※ Those who enter the school with TOPIK, must acquire TOPIK level 4 or above before graduation

      ① Amount: 50,000 KRW
         (Every applicant must pay all associated bank fees by the applicant name on the passport.)

Required Documents

  • ① Application Form, Study Plan, Introdution, Financial Certification : Downloadable from our website (http://www.hugs.ac.kr).
        ID photo needs to be attached on it
  • ② Original Copy of diploma or certificate of (expected) graduation from undergraduate institution
  • ③ Official Transcript(s) from undergraduate institution
      ※ Graduation certificate and grade certificate are mandatory documents for admission evaluation.
          Up to the application deadline issue (including online issuance) is accepted.
      ※ Any Academic Degree Certificate has to be officially “certified” by the Korean Consulate and be
          sealed by the Korean Embassy (Consulate General) or “apostilled” in the country where the graduated
          university is located. Students of Chinese university should submit a “Credential Report”
         (www.cdgdc.edu.cn) instead of the confirmed documents from the Korean Consulate.
      ※ Applicants who are expected to obtain the relevant required degree or diploma later than the
          application period, must submit an official certificate of degree or diploma and transcript by FEB. 21, 2020.
  • ④ Certificate of language school and transcript of grades (only applicable)
  • ⑤ Copy of passport and Copy of alien card
  • ⑥ Statement of financial resources Certificate of the deposit balance of the applicant with a minimum of $20,000(USD) or      25,000,000(WON) on deposit for at least one month
  • ⑦ Copy of official language test result: TOPIK Level 3 or higher. Not submitted after the time of admission, Must submit within six months
  • ⑧ Copy of Health insurance certificate
  • ⑨ Personal information utilization agreement: Downloadable from our website (http://www.hugs.ac.kr).
  • ⑩ A receipt for the examination fee
      ※ All submitted documents that are not written in English or Korean must accompany a document in
        English or Korean
      ※ All international students admitted are obliged to purchase health insurance before or upon entrance.
          Two(2) types of health insurances are available at large – the first is private one, which is sold by a private company,
          costing about 130USD per year and the other is sold by Korean Government, whose premium is way higher than that of the private
          company, costing about 550USD per year, but covers a broader scope of injuries and accidents.
          Details will be informed when you visit Graduate School Office before or after entrance.

Application Instructions

  • • Inquiry: Hallym University of Graduate Studies (02-3453-9333)
  • • Those who don't submit all the required documents cannot take the test, and if any date on the documents proves false or the degree
        required for the applying course is not earned, admission is to be cancelled (No tuition is to be refunded.)
  • • Submitted documents and application fees are not to be returned or refunded except for the situation of the admission cancellation
        caused by Hallym University of Graduate Studies.
  • • The applicant may apply for one Department only (No dual application allowed)
  • • Chinese students who graduated from universities and graduate schools in China must submit a verified certificate from the China
        Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center
